Clients who dealt with Sydney real estate agent Karl Howard had given him praise and thanks for his service before he was arrested and charged with violently attacking a woman with a samurai sword.

Prosecutors have claimed Mr Howard, 44, sang “I’m going to kill you” before he hit a woman with a samurai sword at his Annandale home, causing her significant injuries

Mr Howard, who has been stood down as the principal of Ray White in Balmain, was arrested and charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm, wounding with intent to murder and trespassing after two women were attacked in the early hours of February 8.

A woman who sold a Balmain property through Mr Howard said on Saturday she would never have expected him to be violent.

“Not at all,” the woman, who did not want to be identified, said. “I was very surprised.”

The woman said there was nothing irregular about her dealings with Mr Howard.

“It was a regular transaction,” she said.

Mr Howard received a 4.9 out of a possible five-star rating on the ratemyagent website.
