The word is out among Sydney’s prestige home owners: sell now in what is a surprisingly strong high-end market, or hold out for the mystery conditions of 2021.

Stockbroker Rob Fiani has heard the call, with preparations underway to launch his grand Bellevue Hill mansion next week for more than $20 million given his upcoming move to the Vaucluse waterfront.

In August, Fiani bought the home of Vass Electrical Industries founder Nicholas Vass and his wife Marion for about $34 million, making it one of the highest house sales of the year and ending 34 years of family ownership since it was sold for $3.7 million by the late hotelier Cyril Maloney.

Fiani has been a long-time Bellevue Hill local, even before he bought his lavishly appointed home on Victoria Road in 2005 for $8.35 million from importer Peter Placek.

The statement home set above a five-car garage with a lavish marble staircase, separate guest quarters, tennis court and swimming pool is listed with Ray White Double Bay’s Elliott Placks and Adam Reichman.

Also set to hit the market is the nearby Bellevue Hill mansion Fintry owned by Somna Kumar, wife of investment banker Joseph Jayaraj.
