Save a deposit; keep your smashed avo

  • IT WOULD take you 22 years, and more than 8000 serves of smashed avocado, if you sacrificed the brunch favourite to save a 20 per cent deposit on a median-priced house of $890,000 in Sydney. And that’s assuming you ate smashed avocado at “$22 a pop” every day.

In case you missed it, The Australian columnist Bernard Salt poked the bear last weekend when he suggested in a column that millennials should sacrifice their expensive smashed avocado on toast at the trendy, hipster cafes they frequent to save for a deposit.
