Here’s where rents are falling

  • IT’S ONLY a modest movement, but combined capital city rents are down and all signs point towards more of the same. That’s good news for renters (and bad news for landlords) particularly in Perth and Darwin where rents have taken a battering.

While the year on year combined city dwelling (that’s houses and units) rental rate is down just 0.2 per cent (to $486 a week), the CoreLogic April monthly rental review shows the median rent in Perth dropped a huge 8.9 per cent to $437 a week and in Darwin rents fell a whopping 12.6 per cent to $500 a week.
