How the great investor boom failed Sydney’s renters

The number of rental properties coming onto the market in some NSW suburbs each year has increased more than 800 per cent since 2010, figures obtained from the state government show.

And while most would think rental prices would fall as a result, the opposite is true as the cost of being a tenant consistently pushes upwards in Sydney.

The number of rentals in the Homebush Bay area has surged, but rents have still increased.
